Hi there Jessica,
My name is Hannah and I am a mother to 5 young adult children and on the single motherhood trek since 2007. Which is what I thought was the hardest card I drew in life — deciding to divorce from their father due to “lack of his love”.
Now we have a world wide mega-crisis and on the ground here in my family we have Shalom my oldest (29) diagnosed this yearwith Paranoid Shizophrenia + possibly ASD . Who will hopefully soon see the light and agree to voluntarily admit himself to the hospital in Jerusalem that has the best success rate in treating people with his condition.
The 2nd one Eliezer is 28 years young and “independent” which means he has a phone and a backback and headed for the North in Israel yesterday morning. As far as I know with no money as he does not work.
The 3rd one Moshe (26) moved to the town Sderot in the South — the town infamous for the rocket barrages fired at it by Hamas group in Aza. He does have a job now.
My daughter Esther (22) married a guy that is turning out to be somewhat handicapped as her ticket to independence. But she says she is happy and will be completing her B.A in early Childhood Education.
Leaves me with 17 year old “baby” Menachem (mind you he is taller than me and does the weekly housecleaning) at home — working in a food place during the day — and then home at midnight.
And to round off the picture there is Max the cat — a friendly being, who will do with tuna, but definitely prefers his meat and who is my comfort pet…to relieve my anxieties …
While once my thought was that I would succed in providing very well for the whole family, I now realize its impossible and am focussing despite it all on MY HEALTH and MY HAPPINESS.
Which means: breathe — relax and small purchases, not big ones. In short I already have a home, I had my children and now the next 10 years I will work from home as a writer and a social entepeneur to promote Humanomics (sm) or the Art & Science of raising better = conscious human beings.
And in the process teach myself to live by these Truths:
We are all bearers of the Divine Image by virtue of our G-d given reason and natural intelligence. Powerful to the extent that we are willing to deal with ourselves as the amazing beings who we truly are. We just have to use our consciousness in a way, that truly serves us.
With love all our challenges — even the ones that are truly frightening - can be transformed into inspired action — in Service of Life itself. More to follow…
Lots of love from Israel,
