On staying upbeat in dark times
A well-known Chassidic saying goes like this: “Better imaginary happiness than real sadness” — and its about not allowing our mind to focus on the problems and troubles in this life.
As literally the only battery that keep us human beings going is the happiness that we generate from within. You know all those positive emotions like gratitude, faith in ourselves and in our loved ones, faith in the Creation to provide adequately for our needs, faith in a Loving, Kind, Fair and Just Creator etc..
And since we are all interconnected and communicate on the level of thought and emotion with one another — way before we speak — let me share with you how the challenge is going from my little corner in this world — my apartment in the suburb of Beitar Illit near Jerusalem in Israel. I will need to speak about Covid & vaccine coercion but I will strive my best to do so in an upbeat and encouraging manner.
I that is to say me Hannah Porat (born Anna Viktoria Dahlem) am turning 58 on December 29th 2021. That is in 3 weeks. That and the fact that I am reasonably healthy and exercise each week 2 to 3 times — is an accomplishment in and of itself in a world where now for the last two years sickness and death abound.
Unfortunately I signed up sometime in the Spring of 2021 to the What’s Up Group with about 140 members that is called “Mi LaHaShem Elai” here in Jerusalem — meaning “all those that are for G-d come over here!” — the famous Hanukkah battlecry of the group of Hasmoneans who…
