We put a man on the moon, we are thinking about getting people to Mars, and when will we actually invest $ 2 Trillion to make something great out of Planet Earth?
“This is no dress rehearsal — this is our life”, is the refrain from my favorite Netflix serial “Anne with an e”, that portrays the fate of a gifted orphan girl in the enchanted English small town of “Avonlea” in the 19th century — where a kind single brother and sister pair take her into their home and she has her true home and family at last. They even bestow their last name on her. She goes through the process of teenagehood after a lifetime of abuse in the various families she has had to work for, and still in the quite stratified town of Avonlea, there are those classmates that taunt her mercilessly about her being an “orphan”. “Orphan” status being the lowest on the totem pole. A defenseless girl all on her own in a cruel world.
Yes, this is OUR LIFE, and just like the town of Avonlea in 3 of the episodes has a bout with “Gold Fever”, where they are being duped by 2 unscrupulous guys, who offer a $ 150 gold testing of their soil in a business in New York City, while the reality is that there will never be more than pennies on the acre, so we — the tax-paying, wage-earning folks in the civilized world, are being sold a certain illusion by our various so-called democratic governments for too long now, and the time has come to challenge that illusion. And we need to challenge it intelligently and with a clear strategy, how we can demand…
